Active Volunteers Abroad (AVA) is a U.S.-based nonprofit dedicated to linking compassionate volunteers with local communities across Asia.
We believe that volunteering abroad should create real, lasting impact — built on respect, partnership, and shared learning between cultures.
Starting in Cambodia, AVA plans to expand to 17 countries, including Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Bangladesh, India, the Philippines, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Timor-Leste, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia. We work closely with trusted local NGOs to design ethical, community-led projects that focus on improving education, empowering women, supporting health and environmental initiatives, and advancing sustainable development.
